Our community has evolved, but the values around which our association was built in 1990 are more than ever at the heart of our identity and continue to guide our every action. Today, to accompany this change, we have sought to reinvent ourselves by paying tribute to our past, reflecting who we are today – a diverse, vibrant and authentic community.

What is it?
Surfrider Foundation Europe is a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to the protection and enhancement of lakes, rivers, the ocean, waves and coastlines. It currently has over 13,000 members and operates in 11 countries via its volunteer branches.
Surfrider Foundation Europe works in 3 specific areas in which the organisation has built up recognised expertise over almost 30 years: aquatic waste, water quality and the health of users, coastal development and climate change.
Our actions are driven by our core values: we are passionate, we want to share and we respect our environment.
The passion for the oceans, the coastline and the pleasures they provide drives everyone who supports Surfrider and guides the organisation’s actions. Surfrider is rooted in the value of sharing and participation through inclusion and diversity. We seek a harmonious relationship between humans and nature.
Our ocean initiatives :
This is one of our programmes designed to tackle the problem of aquatic waste through awareness-raising, participatory science and lobbying.
The Ocean Initiatives are clean-ups of beaches, lakes, rivers and seabeds around the world. These waste collections are organised by volunteers with the support of Surfrider Foundation Europe.
Our Ocean Campus :
This innovative educational platform aims to democratise access to training and raise public awareness of the need to protect aquatic life. It includes free tools that everyone can use to understand why it is essential to take action to protect the ocean. So everyone can get involved, whatever their motivation and free time, whatever their location.
