During a stay in Corralejo, learning to surf leaves time for additional activities. Surfing in translucent water in Fuerteventura

Corralejo’s sub-tropical beaches, with their golden sand, are so wide and long, the water is so clear and the waves so perfect for fun, that they seduce travellers. Playas Grandes de Corralejo welcomes a large number of holidaymakers every year and is certainly featured in thousands of idyllic holiday photos with this bright and very fine white sand.

Covering most of the northeastern tip of the island, this area is perfect for kitesurfing and parasailing. Five kilometres from Corralejo is the natural park where wide sand dunes extend almost to the sea. It is the ideal place for a short sporting walk followed by a refreshing sea bath. Flagbeach, with its 7 kilometres of white sand and breathtaking views of the volcanoes, makes it an exceptional spot that is part of the Corralejo Natural Park. The Corralejo surf camp is located on one of the most beautiful beaches in Fuerteventura, in the northeast of the island, opposite the Isla de los Lobos island.

Visit of Lobos, by glass bottom boat to Corralejo

The ticket for the “glass bottom boat” costs a pittance. It makes about ten round trips during the day and allows you to escape for a paradisiacal adventure a quarter of an hour’s sailing from Corralejo.

This is the must-see excursion to Los Lobos, the former seal island. If these animals have totally disappeared from the island, there is still a very varied fauna and flora, with many birds to observe, this is what makes it a nature reserve. This small paradise of 5 square kilometres, located opposite Corralejo, is inhabited by only a few people. Its unspoilt nature will give you the feeling of being the Robinson for a day who would dock for a few hours on this curious sub-tropical island dominated by a volcano.

Discovery on foot on a small path around the island is possible without much difficulty but the fine sandy beaches bordered by turquoise water are often more popular with visitors.

Whether scuba diving or snorkeling with basic equipment: fins, mask, snorkel, beginners and advanced divers alike should be satisfied in this unique environment in Europe.

The advantage of snorkeling is that it can be affordable by many people between the ages of 7 and 77, and therefore be a family activity. Walks in the shallow waters of Los Lobos, easily accessible, are ideal for this. In Corralejo you will find packages offering mini catamaran cruises including lunch and drinks buffet, guided tours and equipment supply.

For scuba diving enthusiasts, the water temperature ranging from 18°C to 23°C with excellent visibility up to 50 meters makes Fuerteventura a very popular place for scuba diving. Shopping in the city centre of Corralejo

Walking along Corralejo’s main street, you will find a variety of shops, some of which are the usual tourist shops that sell towels, souvenirs and a host of beach items. Las Palmeras is the main shopping centre with a range of fashion shops, a supermarket and indoor cafés.

The main street also offers a wide range of “seaside” style retail outlets where you can find essential holiday items such as inflatable dolphins for children (or grown-ups!), sunscreen, newspapers and trinkets.

A product that you will find in abundance and on sale in almost every store is Aloe Vera, a plant grown and processed on the island and renowned for its rejuvenating, healing and soothing properties. It is a popular and particularly effective treatment to reduce sunburn.

But if you are looking for something a little more unique, take a look at the alleys and the old town near the marina to find quality local crafts and shops.

Finally, on Sundays and Thursdays, you can discover the Canary Islands market at the El Companario shopping centre. It occupies the alleys of the centre under arbours. It is a very lively craft market, offering products made in the Canary Islands. You will find everything, jewellery, painting, inlay, leather, etc…. A nice moment of change of scenery and authenticity to plan with a pleasant stroll through the stands.
